GATHERING OF STRINGS
Andrew Noble and I set out to develop and borrow a series of formulas that focused on creating organized sound with the simplest directives for the performers. Basically, to perform music while side stepping some of the more traditional approaches of composition. Being string players ourselves, we brought together an all string ensemble to apply these formulas. The results are beautiful and at times chaotic walls of sound that listeners can loose themselves and swim around in.
Gathering of Strings: Rehearsal at the Astoria Theatre
2/18/11 we where extremely fortunate to take part in an installment art and sound project hosted at ARTHOUSE Austin TX. Graham Hudson constructed a wonderful structure of scaffolding based on plans of the Astoria Theater in the UK. He invited Austin musicians to use the space for rehearsal, but a rehearsal that was open to the public. Andrew and I has just began considering a location for the first run of this experiment and this was the perfect opportunity.

Gathering of Strings IV: QUISQUOUS with Rosalyn Nasky
6/19/11 Andrew and I were thrilled to collaborate with the amazing choreographer and dancer Rosalyn Nasky. We presented our collaboration entitled QUISQUOUS at the 2011 New Media Art and Sound Summit at the Salvage Vanguard Theatre in Austin, TX. Video of the entire performance will be available this fall.

Rosalyn Nasky aims to fascinate and inspire through raw assimilations of movement, music, and sculptural design. She received her B.F.A. in Dance Performance from Marymount Manhattan College. After returning to Austin, she immediately immersed herself in local performance, creating dances for local ReadySetGo! productions, PILOT (Ft Worth), Dance Carousel, Big Range Austin, Big Range Houston, and Austin Works in Progress. Her collaborations include works with local artists Steven Snowden, Owen Weaver, Diana Mino, and Brian Pettey, and is thrilled to be performing with Tim Doyle and Gathering of Strings!
